We are looking for an accomplished Health and Safety Specialist to be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant workplace environment by developing, implementing, and continuously reviewing health and safety policies, procedures, and systems in line with legal and company requirements. The position oversees risk assessments, safety inspections, accident investigations, mandatory reporting, training programs, and compliance audits across all sites, while ensuring employees are informed of their responsibilities regarding workplace safety and welfare. Working closely with Facilities, external providers, and management teams, the role also supports regulatory compliance, maintains accurate health and safety records, coordinates mandatory documentation and reporting, and provides regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership to promote a strong culture of health, safety, and compliance throughout the organization. 


 
As a Health and Safety Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include:


 

  • Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities. 
  • Working with the Facilities Manager ensure an effective health and safety procedures in place, which comply with industry, national and international standards
  • Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
  • Ensure that external provider deliver the mandatory reports – “Avaliação de Risco”; “Qualidade ar”, “Medidas de auto protecção” for all Sites
  • Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
  • Establish a full program of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
  • Establish a structured program of health & safety training throughout the Company.
  • Liaise with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programs and health and safety services.
  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
  • Ensure the appropriate accident reports
  • Provide regular reports to the Human Resources Manager, Board of Directors/Senior Management
  • Team on relevant health and safety activities.
  • Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
  • Liaise with suppliers i.e. Insurers, solicitors etc
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time
  • With regard to compliance, the incumbent: Takes personal responsibility to understand and comply with all company and client security requirements and policies 

To succeed in the role, you will need to have:
 

  • Native or Proficient level of Portuguese (C2)
  • Advanced level of English (at least C1) both verbal and written
  • Strong perception and evaluation abilities

  • Availability to work hybrid model from our site in Lisbon
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:00

 

Education and experience
 

  • 2/3 year college degree or directly related work experience
  • Relevant work experience with Health and Safety
