We are looking for an accomplished Health and Safety Specialist to be responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant and healthy workplace environment by developing, implementing and continuously reviewing health, safety and wellbeing policies, procedures and systems in line with legal, regulatory and company requirements. The role oversees risk assessments, safety inspections, accident and incident investigations, mandatory reporting, training programs and compliance audits across all sites. In addition, the role contributes to the management of psychosocial risks, employee wellbeing initiatives, and inclusive workplace practices, ensuring employees are informed of their responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and dignity at work. Working closely with Facilities, Human Resources, ESG, external providers and management teams, the role supports regulatory compliance, maintains accurate records, coordinates mandatory documentation and reporting, and provides regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership, promoting a strong culture of safety, wellbeing, inclusion and social responsibility throughout the organization.
As a Health and Safety Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include:
Health & Safety & Compliance
• Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
• Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
• Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
• Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment, facilities and operations.
• Ensure that all accidents and incidents are documented, investigated and that corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, and that risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and understood by employees.
• Work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure effective health and safety procedures are in place, complying with industry, national and international standards.
• Coordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
• Ensure that external providers deliver mandatory reports (e.g. “Avaliação de Risco”, “Qualidade do Ar”, “Medidas de Auto Proteção”) for all sites.
• Ensure full, accurate and auditable health and safety records and training documentation are maintained.
• Establish and maintain a structured program of health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
• Establish and support a structured program of health & safety training across the Company.
• Liaise with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programs and specialist services.
• Keep up to date with relevant health, safety and welfare legislation and communicate changes to the business.
• Provide regular reports to the Human Resources Manager and Senior Management on health and safety activities, risks and trends.
• Participate in meetings and governance forums when required to report on health & safety matters.
• Liaise with suppliers (e.g. insurers, solicitors, external providers).
• Carry out any other reasonable duties required by management.
• Take personal responsibility to understand and comply with all company and client security, compliance and confidentiality requirements.
Wellbeing & Psychosocial Risk Management
• Support the development, implementation and monitoring of employee wellbeing initiatives covering physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing.
• Identify, assess and monitor psychosocial risks, including stress, burnout, workload and work-related mental health risks.
• Work closely with HR, Occupational Health and external providers to promote preventive wellbeing and health promotion strategies.
• Support awareness campaigns related to mental health, stress management, ergonomics and work-life balance.
• Monitor indicators such as absenteeism, incidents, turnover and wellbeing-related trends, proposing continuous improvement actions.
Inclusion, Dignity & Diversity
• Promote safe, inclusive and respectful work environments, ensuring health and safety practices consider workforce diversity.
• Ensure risk assessments and preventive measures take into account vulnerable or specific groups (e.g. pregnant workers, employees with disabilities, age-related risks).
• Support initiatives related to psychological safety, dignity at work, harassment and discrimination prevention, in collaboration with HR.
• Contribute to the integration of inclusion and equity principles into health, safety and wellbeing policies and procedures.
ESG – Social Dimension & Reporting
• Contribute to Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG (Social pillar) initiatives by providing data, insights and best practices related to health, safety, wellbeing and employee care.
• Support internal and external audits, assessments and reporting related to ESG, social impact, sustainability and client requirements.
• Contribute to the collection, validation and reporting of social KPIs within the ESG Integrated Management System, where applicable.
• Promote a culture of ethical behavior, prevention and social responsibility across all sites.
To succeed in the role, you will need to have:
- Native or Proficient level of Portuguese (C2)
- Advanced level of English (at least C1) both verbal and written
- Strong perception, evaluation and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Must hold EU citizenship or valid work permit for Portugal
- Availability to work hybrid model from our site in Lisbon
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:00
Education and experience
- 2/3 year college degree or directly related work experience
- Relevant work experience with Health and Safety
