We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to be responsible for supporting a wide range of payroll activities and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll-related information. This role includes maintaining employee payroll data, processing earnings and deductions, preparing reports for Finance and other support teams, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The Payroll Specialist works closely with HR and other departments to guarantee payroll accuracy, time and attendance alignment, and proper handling of legal obligations such as Social Security, compensation funds, court orders, and other mandatory deductions, while maintaining updated payroll records and documentation.
As a Payroll Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Provide support for a broad range of Payroll activities and procedures
- Support Payroll team in delivery of overall responsibilities
- Processes payroll related data (e.g. time sheets, withholding information, etc.)
- Assist with maintenance of all employee payroll related data within the payroll system
- Input and balance payroll earnings and deductions
- Prepare reports for the Finance and BA Departments and other support teams
- Work together with HR and other support Teams to ensure accurate payroll, time and attendance
- Maintains payroll information, files and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines
- Ensures payroll records are up to date
- Ensuring the compliance of mandatory procedures
- Process of pawns, court orders, child support and other deductions from payroll
- Process of legal obligations such as monthly Social Security, Fundos de Compensação and others
- Other duties as assigned
To succeed in the role, you will need to have :
- Good level of Portuguese & English - mandatory
- Ability to understand and interpret employee pay statements and relevant communications
- Familiarity with standard payroll practices, benefits and compensation, tax withholding, or accounting principles preferred
- Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and with a cross functional team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable to change and thrive in a team environment
- High knowledge of Payroll functions
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving and employee relation abilities
- Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Availability to work Hybrid model from our office in Porto
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 9h - 18h
Education and experience:
- Preferable college degree or related work experience
- Relevant work experience with Payroll for at least 1-2 years
- Customer Support Industry experience will be a plus
